despite his wildest fucking imagination, steve is just absolutely obsessed with eddie. like, cannot get enough.
eddie was under the impression that it was because this was new and eddie was steve’s first boyfriend. so its to be expected that they spent very little time apart. when steve is not at the video store or eddie doesnt have a shift at the record shop right outside of town, the two are attached at the hip. sleepovers everyday, driving each other around, constantly bringing each other little gifts.
but now they are two years in and steve has not let up, not that eddie is complaining of course, being the only out gay dude in hawkins meant less than zero action. and he for certain did not expect steve harrington to be the one to give it to him.
steve keeps a calendar of all the kids events, making sure to mark down anything he could make it to. and on that calendar is all of eddies shifts, any corroded gigs, the hellfire club meetings, anywhere that requires eddie’s presence is marked.
he comes to the corroded gigs, wearing a handmade merch shirt that him and the rest of the gang made when corroded started getting booked more. singing every lyric, never daring to take an eye off eddie. after the shows, he met eddie back stage with the goofiest of grins, always bringing him in for a tight hug despite the sweat on eddies clothes, “you were amazing”
steve never dares to let anyone say shit about eddie, because even years later people still cannot give it up. one murmur of “freak” or anything about chrissy’s death and steve turns around on a dime and will fight someone on the spot.
of the two, steve is definitely the more morning person. often, he will lie there for hours before eddie just wakes up, just reading or looking. eddie sometimes will wake up to steve stroking his cheek, a soft look on his face, “good morning, love”
if the situation is right, steve will never hesitate to introduce eddie as his boyfriend. a wide smile on his face, so proud of the words.
the party never get used to it, always surprised by steve’s willingness to show his affection for eddie. but he would give up anything in the world for his little freak
